Adult Ministries
Avondale United Methodist Church was founded nearly a century ago by people who wanted to share God's love through Jesus Christ. We still do! One of the ways that we strengthen ourselves and find guidance is through the Bible. We interpret the scriptures contextually; and we find that reading them that way, we sometimes learn different things from the same words. We are cool with that. We love sharing our different perspectives and we grow from hearing about each other's spiritual beliefs. We don't check our brains at the door at Avondale. We have a variety of Sunday School Classes and LifeGroups (i.e., small groups who study, pray, discuss and share our lives at a deeper level).
Faithful Friends
Faithful Friends
Faithful Friends is our oldest group and includes prayer, singing and a short lecture.
This is a Sunday School class, which meets after our worship service from 11AM - 12PM. They are held in classrooms off the main church hallway (follow the signs for The Meeting Place, go past The Meeting Place on your right and you will find all of the Sunday School classes on the long hallway in front of you.) There are signs for each group on the classroom doorways.

Practicing the Presence is a discussion and prayer group.
This is a Sunday School class, which meets after our worship service from 11AM - 12PM. Through the Bible

Through the Bible is a class that reads a chapter of the Bible each week with a prepared commentary and discussion.
This is a Sunday School class, which meets after our worship service from 11AM - 12PM. LifeGroups are weekly groups that share Prayer, as well as studies, discussions or projects. Pastor Clare's LifeGroup meets on Zoom on Thursdays at 6 p.m.
