We believe that everyone should give to their church. But we don’t believe that everyone should give money. If you are having trouble providing a safe roof over your head, food for your family, or needed prescriptions and medical care—we don’t want your money. We think it is terrible when poor people who don’t have enough to care for themselves and their families are ‘guilted’ into giving their last dime to a church. Those of us who are blessed to have enough are happy to give as much as we can to cover those who are struggling to get by. (We are not saying financial gifts aren’t important—we need to pay our bills to continue serving this community both physically and spiritually.) We just believe that giving needs to be proportional based upon wealth. That’s all tithing is—proportional giving. But we don’t get caught up in the 10% number. Some folks give way more, some can’t do that much. We believe that there are lots ways for all of us to give: through our prayers, our service, and our talents. So please, give generously so that our Community Hub for Kindness can continue to grow and help more people!
